The government entities that are part of the Prevention, Mitigation and Response Committee (PMR) in this Atlantic province began the preparations and contingency measures in the event of possible atmospheric phenomena.
This announcement was made today in a meeting with the press that was headed by the provincial governor, Iván Rivera, who assured that they would take the pertinent measures to preserve lives and properties at the beginning of the 2019 Cyclonic Season.
“We have made this call to start the coordination of the actions to implement and the message of awareness that we must take to the population, by the troughs, storms and other meteorological phenomena that may arise, since in our province there is a protocol that is activated so soon there is some climatic novelty,” Rivera said.
The maximum representative of the Executive Power in Puerto Plata, explained that the Government institutions and relief agencies will be ready to provide guidance and assistance to the population throughout the Cyclonic Season that begins on June 1st and ends on November 30th.
Also, he assured the creation of permanent brigades that have to raise awareness and empower people who live in vulnerable places, about the preventive measures they must take to avoid unfortunate events. The directors of the Civil Defense, Red Cross, Scorpion Rescue, the Ministries of Health, Tourism and Environment, DIGESETT, CESTUR, Navy of the Dominican Republic and CORAAPPLATA participated.
